Knowledge Ecology Fair 98 is the first totally virtual, global event dedicated to the education and networking of corporate managers around the issues of knowledge management and knowledge ecology. It will be held on the World Wide Web, February 2 - 27, 1997.

The Fair builds on the momentum of a series of "knowledge in action" events: online dialogue forums combined with experiential, on-site learning journeys--called "knowledge cafés"--facilitated by Arian Ward, Leader of Collaboration, Knowledge, and Learning for Hughes Space and Communications Company , and George Por, Founder and Senior Consultant of Community Intelligence Labs .

Knowledge Ecology Fair 98 will be a meeting of thought leaders, on-the-field business innovators, Chief Knowledge Officers, CIOs, HR and OD executives, vendors of knowledge management products and services, and authors of best selling business books, all supported by a richly textured virtual environment. The highlights of the Fair will be summarized in an interactive compendium--a "Whole Earth Catalog" of knowledge ecology--giving registered members easy access to ideas, tools, and people.

Knowledge Ecology Fair 98 is jointly organized by Community Intelligence Labs, a network of seasoned practitioners, consultants, and researchers in knowledge ecology, communities of practice, and virtual communities and Metasystems Design Group , the host of The Meta Network since 1983, one of the longest-running online communities in cyberspace. Last June, MDG produced the highly acclaimed CivicNet http://www.tmn.com/civicnet/ Web event which involved more than 350 participants in a conference on community development and networking.
